There are many things you can do to your hair to change it. But the key to successful changes is to understand the process and to under-take it in the correct manner. Here are the various techniques and tips on how to do them right.
Equally important as skin care in your beauty routine is shampooing if you were only to do one thing for your hair, shampooing it the right way and with the shampoo geared specifically for your hair would be it. It’s not just that clean hair is prettier. Experts warn that unless your scalp and hair are cleansed regularly, the buildup of perspiration and oils will be a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. How many times a week you should shampoo is up to you- you should pay attention and see how often your hair and scalp feel dirty. Most hairdressers will tell you that generally oily hair needs to be washed more often than dryor normal hair. But if you have some knowledge of what kind of hair you have, how often it gets dirty, and if you use theshampoos and conditioners for your hair type, you really can be the best judge of how often you wash your hair.
Shampooing is a process we all need to understand, because all too often we’ve learned how to do it as children and this have not reeducated ourselves as to how to shampoo properly.
How to Shampoo
Start your shampoo with warm water, rinsing the hair until it is completely soaked (not just damp). Use a soft stream of water – a hard stream of water can break off your hair at the roots. Put a small amount of shampoo in your hands and rub to make a small lather. (If you use too much shampoo, it will leave your hair extra dry, especially if your hair has been bleached.) Now put this on your hair and massage, rubbing back and forth. (You need to rub it into the hair and scalp thoroughly in order to loosen the dirt and grease. If you don’t get a good lather, just add moreshampoo.) Never use your nails!
If you feel you need it, wash your hair again, but this time use only half the amount of shampoo. When the lather is thick and your hair seems to have soaked it up, rinse thoroughly, time and time again, rubbing your hair to make sure the water reaches everywhere and all the dirt and shampoo are flushed out, especially at the base of the neck. Test the water running out of your hair; when it is clear, your hair is clean. Now use your Conditoner, leaving it on as long as the directions advise. Then rinse with cool water to close the pores on your scalp and make your hair shiny. If you’re done rinsing, do it one more time anyway. When you are done, pat your hair with a towel, don’t rub it.
