One of the biggest makeup and style trends this year is
neon. Neon lipstick’s nail polishes, eye shadows and even blushes have been
seen on all the international runways and on list celebrities. Here is a
step-by-step guide to incorporate this crazy trend in your everyday makeup
regime. You’re sure to make heads turn!
Eyes:
The
one rule that you have to remember is that you should choose one feature to
highlight in your entire face. Either focus on your eyes or work around bold
lips. Highlighting both will leave you with an overdone look. Following are
three ways that the Neon trend can be used on your eyes.
Bold:
Neon
eyeliner: A graphic swipe of a bold neon liner cab immediately takes your liner
routine from Blah to Wow! Flick it out for a bold cat eye effect or only line
your lower lash lines for that pop of color without being over the top. Colors
like Teals and Aquas look beautiful and suit every eye color.
Bolder:
Take
the neon look up a notch by blending a bright neon eye shadow on your lids. The
trick is that you give a soft wash of color to your eyes otherwise it will look
like 80s makeup gone wrong.
Boldest:
For
a truly darling and wild look, blend two or three neon eye shadows on your
eyes. Think we are crazy? It is actually a fantastic evening look. Use a flat
eye shadow brush to pickup a neon yellow color and apply it in your inner
corners, next blend a bright orange to the middle of your lid and finally work
neon green in the last third to your eye. You may think that you look like a
clown but the key to this look is blending. The three colors will merge
together in a beautiful rainbow that will make your eyes pop. One tip through,
we suggest that you no apply a neon fuchsia as that will look as if you were
punched in the eyes.
Lips:
Another
way of wearing the neon trend is to wear it on your lips. And although the
colors may look scary in the tube, they are actually quiet wearable and look
fantastic. So here are three ways of wearing neon on your lips.
Bold:
When
it comes to lip products, a bright fuchsia color is de rigueur, and why not, it
makes your teeth whiter, flatters and every skin tone is different than a basic
red lip. But if you are someone to stays in the comfort zone of neutrals than
the way to foray into the exciting world of bright lip colors is by lip-gloss.
Lip glosses gives a sheer wash of color and look fresh and youthful. So grab a
bright pink gloss and neon it up!
Bolder:
A
neon raspberry lip stain is a bold look to try but it is not too in your face.
Lip stains can be drying so top it off with a clean lip-gloss. The stain will
be locked in place so that you will only need to touch up your lip-gloss, easy
and low maintenance.
Boldest:
Take
the bold neon looks to the next level is by bright orange or fuchsia lipsticks.
But this time you can play with the texture by keeping it matte. Yes matte lip
colors are harder to wear so prepping your lips is the key. Apply lip balm or
Vaseline and use an old toothbrush to rub over your lips to exfoliate them and
get rid of flaky skin. Apply your lip balm again and then your lipstick, using
the lip brush to fill the corners for the clean contours. Blot your lips with
the tissue and than reapply the color. The layering will ensure that your
lipstick stays in place and minimizing feathering.
Cheeks:
What
is this? We hear, Neon on cheeks? Yes! Bright orange and pink blush may look
scary in the pan but with the big fluffy brush and careful application, your
face will look radiant, as if it were lit from within. Tap your brush in the
blush and shake of the excess. Smile and blend the blush on the apples of your
cheeks. This will create a wash of color that will give a youthful glow and is

Nails:
Switching
up your nail polish is the best way of keeping up with color trends. We would
recommended that those with the fair skin tone stay away from neon yellow as it
can give your skin a sickly tinge. Neon’s looks best for skin, which is
